What is MindChain (Semantic Association)?
MindChain is Smotix's flagship semantic word association game. It departs entirely from spelling and anagram-based puzzles (like Wordle) and instead focuses purely on the meaning and relationships between words.
The premise is beautifully simple: You are given a Start Word and a Target Word. Your goal is to build a bridge of exactly five intermediate words connecting them. Each word you choose must have a strong, logical semantic relationship (a synonym, antonym, compound word part, or strong cultural association) with the word immediately preceding it.
MindChain is powered by advanced AI and an extensive semantic database. The Unlimited Mode generates puzzles dynamically, meaning you can play an infinite number of unique chains. If you encounter a word you don't fully understand, you can click the book icon directly on the game card to open the Smotix Dictionary without ever leaving your game!

Examine the 4 options provided for the first step.
Select the word that has the strongest semantic connection to the Start Word.
Continue selecting words to build your chain downwards.
If you make a mistake and the chain breaks (losing a heart), use the 'Undo' button to rethink your path.

- ▸You have a limited number of 'Hearts' (lives). Every incorrect guess costs one heart.
- ▸If you lose all your hearts, the puzzle ends.

Pro Strategies
Work backwards! If you are stuck on Step 3, look at the Target Word at the bottom and try to figure out what Step 5 must be. Working from both ends towards the middle is a pro strategy.
Beware of 'Distractor' words. The AI purposefully generates options that might relate to the Start Word, but lead you down a dead-end path.
Think about compound words. A word might not be a synonym; it might combine to make a new phrase (e.g., 'SUN' -> 'FLOWER').
Quick Tips
- Use the Dictionary! Click the book icon on any word card to see its full definition. Sometimes a word has a secondary meaning you forgot about.
- If you are down to 1 Heart, don't guess blindly. Use the 'Hint' button to save your run.
- Take your time. There is no timer in MindChain. Let your subconscious process the associations.
