Medium codewords: working from frequency
Medium codewords reveal two numbers and use medium-length quotes, with a median of 51 letters and about twelve words. Two given letters will not fill a word on their own, so the number counts become your main clue.
Read the number counts
The number that appears most often is usually E. The next few are usually T, A, O, I and N. Try the most common unrevealed number as E and check whether it gives plausible word endings, such as -ED, -ER or -ES.
Use the 26-letter limit
Each letter is used by exactly one number. As you solve, the pool of free letters shrinks, and late in the puzzle a gap often has only one possible letter left. When you get stuck, check the keyboard for letters that are still unused.
