Cryptograms by topic
Each category draws on its own set of quotes and facts, and the topic changes how a puzzle feels. Conversational movie lines are full of contractions, science quotes lean on long technical words, and geography puzzles hide rare letters inside place names. Knowing what kind of text to expect is a real advantage when you start decoding.
Every category puzzle is unlimited practice: pick a topic, solve, and play again as often as you like.
Famous Quotes cryptograms
Timeless wisdom from historic thinkers, leaders, and philosophers. Expect short, balanced sentences built on common words such as THE, AND, IS and NOT. Many are well known, so once a few words appear you may recognise the whole line.
Science cryptograms
Discoveries, laws of physics, and scientific principles. Watch for longer technical words with endings like -TION, -ITY and -ICAL. Names of scientists are common, so a capitalised-looking cluster of rare letters may be a surname.
Technology cryptograms
Computing history, innovation, and digital revolutionary ideas. Lines about computing and invention often contain words like COMPUTER, MACHINE or FUTURE. Repeated -ING and -ED endings are frequent and make good footholds.
History cryptograms
Key moments, speeches, and milestones that shaped civilization. Speeches and historical sayings use formal language: WHICH, SHALL, NATION, PEOPLE. Look for the repeated short words that speech-writers lean on.
Movies cryptograms
Iconic cinematic lines and famous film quotes. Film lines are conversational, so contractions are common. An apostrophe followed by one letter is usually S or T, which is often the fastest start in this category.
Books cryptograms
Literary masterpieces and memorable lines from classical works. Literary lines can use older or unusual vocabulary. Expect fewer contractions and more long words, and keep in mind that a line may come from a well-known opening sentence.
Sports cryptograms
Inspirational athletic quotes and legendary sports wisdom. Sports quotes are short and direct, with words like WIN, GAME, TEAM and PLAY. They are a good category to learn on.
Animals cryptograms
Fascinating facts and quotes about nature and wildlife. Facts about wildlife often contain numbers written as words and animal names with unusual letter combinations, such as the PH in ELEPHANT or the double O in KANGAROO.
Space cryptograms
Astronomy, cosmic exploration, and universe quotes. Expect words like STAR, PLANET, LIGHT, EARTH and UNIVERSE. The letters of these few words cover a large share of most space quotes.
Geography cryptograms
Wonders of the world, landscapes, and geographical facts. Place names make these harder: a country or river name can contain rare letters like Z, Q or K. Solve the common words first and leave the names until last.
